How are high-quality glasses precisely manufactured?

The time goes back to 1983. That year, Hong Kong businessman Lin Xiansheng opened the first eyewear factory in Shenzhen - Henggang Optical Factory, located in Henggang 168 Industrial Zone. Since then, the first batch of Hong Kong eyewear manufacturing experts began to move north to Shenzhen, laying the foundation for the development of the eyewear industry in Longgang. Over the following decades, a number of leading eyewear enterprises focused their development efforts on Longgang and mainly concentrated their investment and factory construction in today's Henggang and Yuanshan areas, gradually forming a complete and large-scale industrial cluster.
Such industrial conditions have created a rare spectacle that is unique to Longgang: In Longgang, from mold-making to final production, all the components needed to make a pair of glasses can be assembled within about half an hour. To put it vividly, a common scene that people often see in Honggang and Yuanshan is that if an enterprise is short of a certain part during the production process, the boss will instruct the employees to ride electric bikes to the nearby parts factory to purchase the parts directly.
"The complete industrial chain is the greatest development advantage of the eyewear industry in Longgang," said Cai Bin, the secretary-general of the Shenzhen Eyewear Industry Association. Currently, Longgang has gathered approximately 1,500 glasses enterprises. The annual production of high-end glasses has reached 125 million pairs, accounting for over 50% of the global market. It has formed a cluster of upstream and downstream industries with links such as production manufacturing, brand operation, design and research and development, material and accessory production, development of smart glasses, online and offline sales, standard formulation, and inspection and testing.
